AUTOGENOUS VACCINES: QUALITY OF PRODUCTION AND MOVEMENT IN A COMMON MARKET September 14-16, 2020 - Munich, Germany
The International Alliance for Biological Standardization Europe (IABS-EU) and EMAV – the Association of European Manufacturers of Autogenous Vaccines and Sera - are organizing the Autogenous Vaccines Meeting: Quality of Production and Movement in a Common Market from the 14th until the 16th of September, 2020 at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Germany.
Vaccination in general and autogenous vaccines in particular contribute to a global reduction of antibiotics use in livestock productions. They are essential to fill the gap wherever licensed vaccines are not available. As this segment of the vaccine market is increasing, an urgent need for a harmonised level of quality can be expected. The first important need is to harmonise general requirements across Europe, utilising guidelines already assembled in the CMDv paper on this item as well as the revisions included within the new EU veterinary medicinal product legislation.
The meeting is intended to initiate productive conversations with manufacturers, competent authorities and users to develop a pathway to a common market which will improve overall disease control in the community, especially for diseases that suffer from a lack of conventionally-authorised products. Key items will be: GMP /GMP-like requirements, mutual recognition of inspections, import and export of autogenous vaccines, and the relevance and impact on diagnostics when vaccinated animals are moved into areas under epidemiological surveillance.
